Hair by LeClaire Professional Grade Hair Extensions Care Guide

Because Hair by LeClaire Professional Grade Hair Extensions are RAW/Unprocessed hair and is collected from one single donor and in a manner that keeps all of the strands in one direction from root to tip with cuticle in tact, we recommend the following pre-installation requirements.

Pre Installation

  1. With the security band remaining in place to avoid tangling, rinse the hair under warm water.
  2. Run your fingers through the hair in a downward motion.
  3. Allow the hair to sit and air dry.
  4. Once the hair is dry it should be tangle and shed free.

General Maintenance

  • It's best to visit your Stylist often to ensure your hair and the hair extensions are properly washed, conditioned and dried.
  • Shampoo and Condition weekly to replenish and hydrate the hair, gently applying product by massaging the hair in a downward motion to avoid tangling.
  • Have stylist clip the ends to avoid dead ends.
  • Apply Argon oil to the hair extensions when needed to add moisture, increase sheen and prevent drying.
  • After shampoo/conditioner make sure to dry the hair extensions where the base of the weft attaches to the braid to prevent your natural hair from meshing with the base of the extension weft.
  • This will help to increase the longevity of the install, allow for easy install take down and help to preserve the weft for future installs.
  • We recommend using a hooded dryer on low heat. To increase the longevity and to protect the integrity of the hair extensions, minimize the use of hot styling tools.
  • Limit the use of heavy styling products to prevent weighing the hair down.

Hair by LeClaire is 100% Virgin Unprocessed RAW hair which means it can be relaxed, bleached, dyed or permed. We strongly recommend having a Professional provide all chemical services.

Because chemical services can alter the natural texture of the hair, we recommend a strand test be performed by a Professional in advance.10) We do not recommend swimming with hair extensions because of the damaging effects of salt water and chlorine. However, if you decide to swim, we recommend parting the hair down the middle, braiding the hair with one braid on each side, and covering all of the hair extensions with a large swim cap. We also recommend thoroughly washing and conditioning the hair immediately afterwards.

The "Extreme Collection" in Wavy and Wavy /Curly can be straightened with the use of a blow dryer and flat iron but will return to its original pattern after every shampoo and condition. To define the Wave and the natural curl pattern, scrunch the hair and allow the hair to air dry or use a diffuser when more volume is desired. Handling the hair during the drying process may cause the hair to frizz. Wait until the hair is completely dry before manipulating and styling the hair.
